Slough Children First will be holding this years celebration event, for all our care-experienced children and young people, on 30th May.
This very special event will bring together all of our children and young people looked after, care leavers, their carers and key professionals that care and support them. The celebrations will include an afternoon of fun activities and we will also be holding an awards presentation to recognise and celebrate the great things that our children and young people have achieved.
This is your opportunity to nominate a child or young person who has achieved something in this past year (April 2022 to March 2023) in one or more of the categories listed below.

Who can be nominated?
Slough’s children and young people looked after (all ages) and care leavers aged 18 to 24.
You can nominate a child or young person for more than one award category. Please complete a separate form for each nomination.
Award Categories
Category one: Sports Award
This award is about doing something well or achieving something personal in sports. This could be something related to an achievement in school or a specific sports club or activity. Your nomination could be about recognising a child’s achievement of building the coverage to over come their fear of joining a club by themselves.
Category two: Arts Award
This award is for doing something well or a particular achievement in the arts which could be, for example, performing arts such as dance, drama or singing or other art forms such as drawing, painting, a performance or arts led project. Has your child used an art form to overcome something in their life. Have they exceeded in a particular art form or developed a particular talent that they didn’t realise they had.
Category three: Education and Learning Award
This award is related to a child or young persons achievement in their learning and/or education. This could include achievements in nursery, school, further education, university, training or other learning environments. This might be for effort, any form of progress, actual exam results or improvement between key stages.
Category four: A Helping Hand Award
This award is about recognising a child or young person who has made a positive contribution or difference to someone in their life or within their community e.g. through volunteering, helping others. This can be something small but yet has made a difference to another child or adult in their life, for example, a friend, foster sibling, another child looked after or for taking part in a fund raising event, been part of scouts or rainbows or helped/volunteered at a school or community event.
Category five: Personal Achievement Award
This award recognises a child or young person’s personal achievement that is not related to any of the above categories. It could be a very small step or progress made in any aspect of a child or young person’s life but is actually a huge achievement for them and one that should be recognised and celebrated.
Please remember to provide ‘the story of achievement’. Confidential and personal information relating to the child or young person (for example, their reason for being looked-after) should not be included in the nomination form. Details from your nomination may be read out at the event.
